The International Meat Alliance
Against Meat
Salvos requirit evolutionem.
It’s Climate Week in NYC.
And lobbyists and representatives from the meat and dairy industries are present with an influential voice.
How influential? Governmental farming support in the United States is severely skewed: An estimated two-thirds of agricultural subsidies go toward production of animal-based foods, while about 2% goes toward fruits and vegetables the government recommends we consume.
The problem is that they’re influencing the conversation in the wrong direction.
Scientists and experts have made clear that shifting consumption to plant-based diets is a critically needed climate solution. Yet the meat and dairy industries have urged policymakers (in some cases successfully) to address agricultural emissions through voluntary incentive-based programs, a facade that allows these industries to continue negatively impacting the climate.
To best fight the meat and dairy lobby, we decided to join it.
We are the International Meat Alliance Against Meat, a lobby group that recognizes the destructive environmental impact of industrial animal agriculture and advocates putting sustainable solutions on the table.
